Rickie Fowler

October 18th, 2014 — 11:04pm

Rickie Fowler is a professional golfer from the United States of America who currently plays in the US PGA Tour.

Fowler had a trophy laden and extremely promising career as an amateur and was the top ranked amateur golfer in the world for a whopping 36 weeks between 2007 and 2008. Such was his prowess as a player during his days as an amateur that many people thought that he could become the next Tiger Woods and was considered as the United States’ answer to Rory McIlroy, who would go on to become world number one and a four time major winner.

But that hasn’t happened and Fowler is struggling to get into the top ten in the Official Golf World Rankings and has managed to win just two titles in his five years as a professional golfer on the US PGA Tour.

After the Walker Cup in 2009, Rickie Fowler announced that he would turn professional and he soon joined the Nationwide Tour, making his debut as a professional golfer with the Albertsons Boise Open. That same year, he announced that he had signed a multi-year deal with golf equipment manufacturers Titleist and also joined the sponsorship of Rolex.

At the majors, Fowler also has struggled to come good and his best result remains a T2 at the US Open and The Open Championship and a T3 in The PGA Championship, all of which have come in 2014, which goes to show that it has taken Rickie Fowler years to deliver on the promise that he had shown as an amateur.

Many people believe that his antics off the field have had something to do with that and until and unless he gets his head straight and focuses only on the sport, he will not deliver on that promise.

This week is going to be a huge thing for Webb Simpson

September 3rd, 2014 — 8:54am

Brandt Snekeder and Webb Simpson will be playing for the crowds today at the Wyndham Championship today at 1.45p.m Sunday for the Final Round at the Sedgefield Country Club.

These two players have too much in common. They are former champions and absolute favorites for the crowds. They are even going to be starting the match three shots behind Nick Watney who is the third round leader. All the eyes from the gallery are expected to be upon them and their every move in the match. Both Simpson and Snekeder have made their career’s first victories here at Sedgefield Country Club. Snekeder won in 2007 and Simpson in 2011.

Today, each of them shot a 4 under 66 and when simpson needed a way out of the sand trap, he made a tricky putt to finish the third round. When the putt dropped, he was so elated that he pumped his fist. Simpson says that it was his goal to play good enough today so that he gets a fair chance on Sunday. He added that they had to hit an elevated space on the top level and had 200 yards towards the downhill. He is happy and relieved that he could get that placement out of his way and hopes that these will be more accessible on Sunday.

Snekeder pulled in a tie with the leader on the 15thhole but shot a 4 under 31 on the first nine. His drive fell apart at the 18th point when it landed four places away from the cart path into the woods.

Snekeder says that he is very disappointed at the stroke and how he played because he had been playing really well. He says that he knows what he has to do on Sunday after learning from this game.

Tom Lewis gets third place in Championship

August 18th, 2014 — 4:30pm

With the third place in the champions, tom Lewis just tripled his earnings and also kept his place in the European Tour. This newly formed the morale of the 22 year old player.

Even after his win in the championship, he is still on the 90th rank in the Race to Dubai and the 657th rank in the world ranking. Although his career saw a huge fall, he is expected to cover up for the lost time and soar upwards.

Toms says that he has played in all the three courses of the game pretty well but he is disappointed that although he had a great chance at winning, and he did not. This loss has given him more time to practice and go up in the game. According to him he has been playing quiet good for some time now and hopefully he will be able to put four rounds together very soon.

This young boy with exceptional golfing abilities came from Welwyn Garden City and came into spotlight when he took the first lead win at 2011 Open and became the first amateur in 40 years to be so. He then won the third event of his life as a professional at the Portugal Masters only after three masters.

It is good to hear the player to be optimistic about his career when all the expectations from him were drowning. If thought deeply, he is a player who shot into spotlight pretty fast if compared to other top golfers like Tiger Woods and Rory Mallory who took five and thirty-eight matches respectively.

His life on the Tour was a dream for him but instead, it became his for Lewis, he is very satisfied with the team that he has and the support he receives.

Spieth finds “severe threat” in Woods at British Open

July 3rd, 2014 — 1:55pm

Among all the controversies all over on whether Tiger Woods has lost out on his killer instinct or not, Justin Spieth is still in firm belief about the legendary skills of the world #1. The American golfer has been openly positive about the comeback of Woods at British Open & has even declared that he considers the iconic player to be “severe threat” for all at the esteemed championship.
British Open would be the first elite golf tournament for Woods post his 12 weeks hiatus owing to a serious back surgery. In his 1st competitive swing since March, the legendary player carded 74 & 75 rounds to miss out on cut at Quicken Loans championship that was won by English golfer Justin Rose. However, Spieth, who had his stint with Tiger in those 2 rounds is confident that his idol can add on to his fourteen-major haul in Hoylake.
“He will take a great deal from those thirty-six holes & I feel he would pose severe threat for all golfers at British Open- most probably as a top favorite”, stated Spieth.
“He looks really good, he is not over-swinging & he is in right rhythm”, continued Spieth. “He was not aggressive putting yet we’re all leaving that short. Tiger’s greens at house are apparently faster. Other than this, he is not very far from gaining back his usual glorious status.”
Tiger admitted that he was actually expected to rest for 4 weeks more but this early comeback is because of his contract with Congressional championship that contributes to his foundation yet claimed that he is feeling “very encouraged” in spite of his failure to get it through the weekend.
Woods is presently on family vacation with kids & girlfriend and would be flying to UK during Scottish Open.

Jim Furyk thanks his father for advice

April 1st, 2014 — 3:22pm

Mike Furyk gave some invaluable advice to his son Jim as he was playing in the World Golf Championship – Accenture Match Play Championship at Dove Mountain in Arizona.

Jim Furyk stated that he thought his father was just telling him not to get out of his comfort zone and playing differently than what he is used to. He mentioned that his dad told him not to change his style too much or even try to hit the ball higher and farther than he is capable of. Furyk went on to add that his father also told him that he should just stick to the game that got him there and not try anything fancy and just try and shoot a number and see where it takes him.

And importantly, Furyk Sr. was absolutely spot on with his assessment of his son’s game as the veteran golfer, who struggled initially, took control of the match before going into the next round.

Jim Furyk is a former graduate from the University of Arizona and he qualified to the quarter finals of the event beating Harris English 1 and up. English vanquished Rory McIlroy in the previous round and as expected, he also pushed Furyk all the way before surrendering the match.

This is the first time that Furyk has managed to reach the quarter finals of the event in 14 attempts and he is no doubt, very happy about reaching the level.

The veteran also admitted that this is the first time that he has gone into the weekend of the event and uncharacteristically for someone like Jim Furyk, mentioned that he was feeling a bit nervous about it. He thanked the fans for the support he has got and mentioned he wants to give them something more to cheer for as well.
